Looking Back...and Forward

What are you grateful for from 2009? I decided instead of making a bunch of overly optimistic resolutions, I'd review my blessings from 2009.

1. Good friends who grow closer each year.

2. Discovering FB as a fun way to keep in touch with distant friends and family members.

3. Crazed cats that make me laugh and laugh.

4. A loving and supportive family.

5. Working my dream job.

6. Losing weight and getting into better shape than I've seen in years.

Bad things happened to me in 2009 as well--few people go through a year without some kind of upheaval, major or minor. But the things I list above helped in the bad times, in a big way, trust me.

I do have a couple of resolutions (can't help those bubbling to the surface).

1. To better organize my time (streamline things a bit).

2. To stay in even better touch with people who matter most to me.

3. To read many, many more books! (I think that one will be fun *g*)

Feel free to post your gratitude or your resolutions! What do you look forward to? Or fondly back on?

Gratitude really is the secret to happiness. I'm grateful for my family, my fabulous editors, my diabolical cat, and that I actually get paid to do what I love to do.

Nice post.

Great post, Jennifer! I agree with Debra: gratitude is the key to happiness! And I have so much to be grateful for this year. However, two things really top the charts:

1) The publishing of my debut novel

AND

2) My first born daughter, now 7 days old...she was born on Christmas Day and we couldn't have asked for a better present!

I can't imagine what wonders 2010 will hold for me! :)

Congrats on the baby girl! Make sure her birthday is always special (From one Christmas baby to another)

I'm grateful for my awesome friends. I'm grateful I got my writing mojo back after a long year and a half of missing it. I'm grateful for my wonderful husband and family. I'm grateful for my adorable new kitty, Izzy and the constant devotion of my dog Cody.

I'm looking forward to 2010 and planning on posting about resolutions on Monday. Isn't that when the diet starts?

Debra, I totally agree! My cup is always running over.

I'm thankful for:

a return to health after a brush with cancer.

for having my 17 year old dog Susie for so many years. Even though I'm sad to have lost her this year, the happy memories far outweigh the sorrow.

everyone in my family having jobs! (Except me of course! I'm terminally unemployable. Making things up for a living has spoiled me beyond redemption!) Our oldest daughter went through a bout with unemployment this year, but she's working and happy now.

Jerrica--Congrats on the best possible Christmas present! I'm sure your daughter is gorgeous and good luck on the debut of your other work as well!

Cindy--I'm so glad to hear your mojo is back. Humans are cyclical creatures. We all go through dry spells (not to say you're all wet now!) Looking forward to your Breath of Heaven this year!

Jenn--Congrats on losing some weight and getting in shape. That's my new (and perennial) goal, but this time, I REALLY mean it!

Great post, Jennifer. Mega congrats on the weight loss! Your kitties are wonderful.

Congrats on the new baby, Debra!

Emily, I'm very thankful for your health as well.

I'm thankful for many things, mainly good health and surviving a recession and remaining employed and friends and loved ones who make it all worthwhile. I'm also thankful for what little good I accomplished thru the day job, and the opportunity to try to make a difference in the world through my work at the day job.

Next year? As my mom would say, "We'll see." The only goal I have for now is to try to have a more optimistic attitude, no matter what life tosses my way!

BTW, this is a cool website where you can keep track of your goals.

You have to sign up, but it's free.

Cindy, glad you got your writing mojo back!

Jerrica, meant to wish you congrats on the new baby, not Debra. Please excuse my brain cloud, lol.

Debra: I too have a diabolical cat (I call him the Spawn).

Jerrica: Wow, you had two debuts! And one at Christmas. Mega congrats!!!

Thanks for this great post!

I'm so grateful for knowing some of the lovely women on this blog.

I'm so grateful for the blessing of having the 'book of my heart' published. This debut year for me has been more incredible than I can say in a few words. (Receiving C.L. Wilson's cover quote was a joyfully teary-eyed highlight, by the way).

I'm so grateful for all I've learned from friends and colleagues, and so grateful to finally have the opportunity to be doing what I love most in the world and to have it on bookstore shelves.

Here's to a fabulous 2010, I can't wait to read all the wonderful books you Chatelaines will create!

Blessings!
